You will be responsible for working with the character modeling and animation teams to bring our characters to life. As a Cloth Simulation Artist you will rig garments for shots using a cloth simulator.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- involved in R&D and tool building to improve the character rigging process
- build on and support the rigging pipeline for any jobs going through the studio
- improve and implement animated garment production workflows both procedurally and technically
- setup garment rigs that embody the aesthetic and technical properties of animated characters, props and garments
- keep CG Supervisor and/or leads and management informed of progress, changes and other critical issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2-3 years studio experience in a 3D production environment where you have demonstrated your strong sense of anatomy, character design, surface development, proportion, and mechanical functionality or an equivalent combination of training and relevant experience
- experience in creating character and facial rigs that are animator friendly, easily maintained and updated along with proven experience in Maya creating animation rigs for complex human characters, animals, vehicles and props
- experience writing MEL scripts and automating rigging processes
- experience with secondary animation systems including cloth/hair simulation is preferred.
- production experience with Syflex and nCloth is preferred and knowledge of any other simulation system e.g. particle, cloth, fluid is a plus
- experience rigging cloth, fur and/or hair are a definite plus
- strong experience and knowledge of 3D software – Maya and Syflex
- programming experience with Mel, Python, GUI design and C
- experience with UNIX scripting would be an asset
- a good understanding of FK/IK skeletal animation systems for both control and deformation of 3D characters
- sound understanding of the requirements of the Production environment to ensure the most efficient and flexible solution is employed
